Set on 21 wooded acres, The Inn was built in 1792 as a stagecoach stop. The twelve individually decorated guest rooms feature plush linens, robes and slippers as well as whirlpool baths and fireplaces. The unique style of 'casual luxury' sets the Weathersfield apart from other inns. You will enjoy all the luxury and quality of the finest lodgings, without the formality. The acclaimed restaurant features the best of New Vermont Cuisine, using only the finest and freshest local ingredients. The wine cellar has been awarded WIne Spectator's Award of Excellence. Just minutes from some of Vermont¿s best skiing, hiking, fishing and hunting, this is truly the ultimate country retreat.
Accommodations
The inn has 12 individually decorated rooms, 9 of which have working fireplaces. Each room features premium quality linens, featherbeds and plush cotton towels. Wrap yourself in a luxurious double thick terry cloth robe and warm your toes in a pair of plush slippers (that you can take home as a momento of your stay!). The two premier King Suites offer every amenity from a whirlpool bath to a private DVD theater system and stereo.
Breakfast
Breakfast is a special event at The Inn. Each morning your will be greeted in the sunroom at your own private table with juice, coffee and warm freshly baked quickbreads or muffins. Your server will bring a bowl of fresh seasonal fruit and tell you what the choices of the day are. Whether it is stuffed french toast, buttermilk blueberry pancakes or farm fresh bacon and eggs, your breakfast is hot, fresh and cooked to order. Special diets are always cheerfully accommodated.
Dining
The dining room was added to the inn in the 1880's. A floor to ceiling fireplace, wood beams and lots of candles cast a soft glow over the room. The cuisine can be described as 'New Vermont', or cuisine with an emphasis on local products. The inn prides itself on its use of local cheeses, meats and vegetables. The menu changes weekly based on what is available in market. Presentations are bright, fun and sophisticated. Many say the inn offers city quality food without the attitude! The inn also runs a series of wine dinners throughout the year and a very special 'Farmers Celebration Dinner' in summer. The wine cellar was recently awarded a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and the bar is well stocked with over 20 beers as well as premium spirits.
Local Attractions
The Inn is perfectly located for a tour of southern and central vermont. Just 20 minutes from Okemo or Ascutney there are plenty of alpine skiing options. But more than alpine skiing, you may choose to cross country ski, snowshoe right on the property, rent snowmobiles ar take a horse drawn sleigh ride. In the warmer months, try horseback riding, check out the local swimming hole (complete with rope swing) or golf at one of our many excellent courses.
Of Special Interest
Tucked away in the woods the inn has a lovely chapel. Surrounded by tall pines, the chapel is on a natural hill providing a very private, intimate space for an outdoor wedding or civil union. The inn can accommodate up to 75 people outside in the warmer months and 50 in winter. This is one of the top sites in Vermont for a country wedding.
