Return to gracious living at Madewood Plantation House on Bayou Lafourche midway between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Madewood has been featured in Country Inns, Vogue, Country Home, Fodor's, Access, Frommer's and many other publications and guidebooks. Those who stay in Madewood's gracious rooms with canopied beds and antiques gather at 6 each evening for wine and cheese in the library, followed by a 7 p.m. dinner by candlelight around the huge oak dining room table. Typical Southern specialties include gumbo, shrimp pie, Madewood's Pumpkin Lafourche and cornbread. Coffee and brandy are served afterwards in the parlor and a full breakfast in the dining room the next morning.
